Programme Name: Introduction to Retail Management

Programme Objective(s) and Outcome(s)

The retail store operation is the heart of the modern form of business. Organized retailing is growing at a faster rate in India and across the globe. This programme is designed to familiarise learners with store-based retail operations. This introductory programme also aims to create interest in further study among the learners.

After successful completion of this programme the learners will be able to:

  • articulate the important dimensions of retail operations
  • state career opportunities in the organized retail sector
  • develop a miniature plan for a small retail store or outlet

Prerequisites: None

Prospective Learners
Individuals interested in a career in the retail sector or develop a basic understanding of retailing, management students (BBA/MBA/PGDIM/DIM) and retail store owners.

Assessment Methodology:

Component-1: Unit wise quizzes
Question type: Multiple choice
No. of questions in each quiz: 10 (all questions are compulsory)
Total Marks: 10 (each question carries equal marks and has only one correct option)
No of Attempts permitted: Unlimited
Time Limit: Unlimited
Associated Conditions

  • A learner needs to score a minimum of 80% to access the contents of the next unit
  • Correct answers will not be displayed because unlimited attempts are permitted

Component-2: Final Quiz
Question type: Multiple choice
No. of questions in each quiz: 30 (all questions are compulsory)
Total Marks: 30 (each question carries equal marks and has only one correct option)
No of Attempts permitted: 05
Time Limit: Maximum 30 minutes per attempt
Associated Conditions

  • A learner needs to score a minimum of 80% to earn the Certificate of Completion
  • Correct answers will not be displayed because unlimited attempts are permitted

Certification
Certificate of Completion will be awarded to a learner upon successful completion of all the weekly tasks with minimum 80% marks in all the unit wise quizzes and at least 80% marks in Final Quiz. Only digital or e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be provided.

This module has been designed to enable learners to embark on paths of entrepreneurship through critical thinking, and innovation. The objective of this module is to make the learners understand the role and contribution of entrepreneurs to the society as well as the economy. This module intends to develop critical appreciation and impart effective entrepreneurial skills on the learners. This module will make the learners aware of the opportunities, challenges entrepreneurs face and the facilities provided by various government and non- government agencies in taking ideas to the masses. After successful completion of this module the learners will be able to identify business opportunities, synthesise ideas in to definite action plans, and communicate or present the ideas to others.
